Osumi Large Animal Clinical Center (OLACC)

The Osumi Large Animal Clinical Center (OLACC) was established in August 2016 in Osaki-cho, Soo County, as a branch of KUVTH affiliated with the Joint Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
The OLACC’s mission embraces a number of goals. It aims to contribute to the local community in the Osumi peninsula—which is a major area for stockbreeding—as a clinical practice for production animal medicine, and to further raise the level of clinical care for local production animals through its direct links with the Large Animal Medical Center. The OLACC is based within the premises of the Osaki Institute of Technologists Network (the Osaki-Monodukuri-Kaikan), and is manned by two full-time faculty members (veterinarians) and one technical assistant. Since its establishment, we have been providing veterinary medical services in cooperation with member veterinarians from the two National Agricultural Insurance Association (NOSAI) offices in the Osumi peninsula (at Soo and Kimotsuki).
The OLACC also has accommodation for students, so can provide 5th and 6th year students with hands-on residential training.
In addition to the production animal veterinary services and clinical training, the OLACC plans to offer farming-oriented seminars, workshops and lectures for stock raisers and qualified production animal veterinarians, with the aim of developing local human resources engaged in animal husbandry in the Osumi peninsula.
